YouTube Video Metadata Viewer

This tool shows the public data YouTube publishes for a video — the details that aren't all visible on the watch page. That includes the exact publish timestamp, duration, category, default language, tags, whether captions were uploaded, whether it's made for kids, embeddable status, topic categories and current statistics.

It's useful for research, for checking your own uploads, and for verifying when and how a video was published.

How to use the video data viewer

  1. 1Paste the video link.
  2. 2Press View data.
  3. 3Copy individual fields or the full data as JSON.

How it works

Data comes directly from the official YouTube Data API videos endpoint (snippet, statistics, contentDetails, status and topicDetails). Results are cached for about 10 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the like count missing?

Creators can hide like counts, in which case the API doesn't return them.

Does “caption: yes” include auto-generated captions?

No. The API only reports captions the creator uploaded or edited.

Can I see a video's dislikes?

No. YouTube removed public dislike counts from the API in December 2021.
