YouTube Monetization Checker

Wondering whether a channel can make money on YouTube? This checker looks at the public signals: whether the channel meets the YouTube Partner Program subscriber thresholds, whether it has enough public uploads, and whether a video is flagged as partner-claimed content.

Be wary of any tool that claims to know for certain whether ads are switched on for a video. YouTube doesn't publish that. Only the channel owner can see monetization status, in YouTube Studio.

How to use the monetization checker

  1. 1Paste a channel link, @handle or a video link.
  2. 2Press Check monetization.
  3. 3Review each signal and the overall verdict.

How it works

Signals come from the official YouTube Data API: subscriber count (1,000 for ad revenue, 500 for fan funding), public video count, and for videos the licensed-content flag and made-for-kids status. Watch hours and Shorts views aren't public, so they can't be checked from outside the channel.

Frequently asked questions

Can you tell exactly if a video has ads?

No. YouTube doesn't expose that publicly. This tool shows eligibility signals, not a guarantee.

What are the requirements to be monetized?

For ad revenue: 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days — rising to 8,000 hours or 20 million views for new applicants from February 1, 2027.
