YouTube Video ID Finder

A YouTube video ID is the 11-character code that identifies a video — the part after “v=” in a normal link. Developers need it for the API and embeds, and creators need it for things like end screens, scripts and spreadsheets.

Links come in many shapes: youtu.be short links, Shorts, live streams, embeds and links with tracking parameters. This tool handles all of them and gives you clean, ready-to-use versions.

How to use the video id finder

  1. 1Paste one or more YouTube links (one per line).
  2. 2The IDs appear instantly.
  3. 3Copy the ID or any of the clean link formats.

Examples

  • Watch URL with extras: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&t=42s&list=PL123
  • Live URL: https://www.youtube.com/live/VIDEO_ID
  • Embed URL: https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID

How it works

Everything runs in your browser. The tool parses the URL, checks that the host is a real YouTube domain, and looks for an 11-character ID made of letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores in the places YouTube uses: the v parameter, the youtu.be path, or /shorts/, /embed/, /live/ and /v/ paths.

Frequently asked questions

Are YouTube video IDs always 11 characters?

Yes. Every public video ID uses 11 characters from A–Z, a–z, 0–9, hyphen and underscore.

Is a video ID the same as a channel ID?

No. Channel IDs are 24 characters long and start with UC. Use the Channel ID Finder for those.

Can I process several links at once?

Yes — paste one link per line and each ID is listed separately.
