YouTube Description Generator

A good description helps viewers and search understand your video. This builder walks you through the parts that matter — a hook for the first lines, a summary, chapters, links, a call to action and hashtags — and assembles them in a clean layout you can paste straight into YouTube Studio.

Chapters are checked against YouTube's rules as you type, so you know they'll actually show up.

How to use the description generator

  1. 1Fill in the sections you need (all are optional).
  2. 2Fix any chapter warnings.
  3. 3Copy the finished description.

How it works

Chapters are validated against YouTube's requirements: the first timestamp must be 0:00, there must be at least three, they must be in ascending order and each must be at least 10 seconds long. The tool also counts characters against the 5,000-character limit and shows the first ~150 characters, which appear in search results.

Frequently asked questions

Why aren't my chapters showing on YouTube?

The usual reasons are a first timestamp that isn't 0:00, fewer than three timestamps, or chapters shorter than 10 seconds. The validator checks all of these.

What should go in the first two lines?

A clear sentence about what the viewer gets, including your main keyword. Those lines show in search and above the “more” fold.
