YouTube Hashtag Generator

Hashtags in a YouTube title or description link your video to a hashtag results page, and up to three from the description appear above the title. Good hashtags are specific and relevant — a handful beats a wall of tags.

Describe your video in a few words and the generator builds hashtags from your own keywords: the full topic, single keywords, two-word combinations and common modifiers like Tips or Tutorial. Select the ones that fit and copy them.

How to use the hashtag generator

  1. 1Describe your video topic in a few words.
  2. 2Toggle Shorts if it's a Short.
  3. 3Click hashtags to select them, then copy.

How it works

The generator removes filler words, normalises your keywords and combines them with common search modifiers. It's rule-based and runs in your browser — it doesn't invent trending tags or claim popularity data it doesn't have.

If a video has more than 60 hashtags, YouTube ignores all of them, so the tool warns you as you approach that limit.

Frequently asked questions

How many hashtags should I use?

Three to five relevant hashtags is a good default. The first three in your description show above the title.

Do I need #Shorts on a Short?

It's not required — YouTube identifies Shorts by format — but it doesn't hurt and can help with discovery on the hashtag page.
