YouTube Engagement Rate Calculator

Engagement rate shows how actively viewers respond to a video. It's one of the first numbers brands look at for sponsorships, and it's a useful way to compare videos regardless of size.

Type in the numbers yourself or paste a video link to fetch the current likes, comments and views automatically.

How to use the engagement calculator

  1. 1Paste a video link and press Fetch, or enter views, likes and comments.
  2. 2Read the engagement rate and benchmark.

How it works

Engagement rate = (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100. Shares aren't public, so they're optional. As a rough guide for YouTube: under 2% is below average, 2–4% average, 4–8% strong and above 8% excellent. Smaller channels typically have higher rates.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good engagement rate on YouTube?

Around 4% or higher is generally considered strong for long-form videos. Shorts often have lower rates per view.

Should I calculate by views or subscribers?

By views is the standard for individual videos, since not every viewer is a subscriber.
